Doing what we can.

In my ten years of being a realtor I’ve had countless women come into my path who are alone after a domestic violence relationship. In fact, 1 in 3 women will experience DV in their lifetime. While my ultimate goal is to have a non-profit to help these women to the highest degree possible, I’m just beginning on that journey, so I do what I can in the meantime.

In October 2022, a lady moved to Utah from Arizona. She had recently divorced and had 3 children. The day they arrived to Utah, it was her youngest’s birthday! I met her through a realtor in Arizona, and she initially was wanting to buy a home to start her new life here. She had to wait a period of time for a loan and decided to rent a place in the meantime.

Her children had some physical and emotional challenges during this first year here in Utah, who wouldn’t when moving to a new state and city and culture? Some of those challenges were incredibly taxing on their family, but they are doing the best they can and taking things one day at a time.

In early November she messaged me and said she wasn’t receiving the child support she was supposed to and didn’t have any money for food. I rallied my friends and with that support was able to get her several hundred dollars to hold her over until she could get on food stamps and other assistance. Because of my request to friends, they wanted to do Christmas for them too.

So we got donations of gifts and money and were able to provide them with a wonderful Christmas that they wouldn’t otherwise have. Ever grateful for the community we live in and for your generosity.
